Recycle!

These days, most communities offer recycling, and many require it. Making a commitment to recycle is basic to living a “cleaner life”. It is the last line of defense before plastics enter the landfill, and it is easy to do.

Exactly what is taken for recycling varies depending on the services your community offers. We suggest you contact your local waste company to find out your areas specific rules and guidelines and to order recycle bins, which are usually free.

What you can do.

Once you have your recycle bins, and know your area guidelines, try to follow them, closely, because someone has to sort every piece they receive at the recycling center, and if you don’t do it the way they have the system set up, it requires additional steps for the workers.

Make sure you wash out containers before placing them in the recycle bin to remove excess food. It is also important to remove the tops from plastic containers before recycling because, in most cases, the tops are not recyclable.

Again, check with your local waste company to find out the specifics that apply to your area and remember that everything you recycle is one less item that will end up in a landfill.
