No More Plastic Grocery Bags!

This simple act is the heart of our mission, and making this small change can make a huge difference. While it might sound like an overwhelming task, ridding your life of plastic grocery bags is much easier than you think. This is one of the first steps in living a “cleaner life”.

Why are plastic grocery bags a problem?

There will be over a trillion plastic bags used, worldwide, in 2010 (over 84 billion in the U.S. alone). The sad truth is that only about 1% of them will be recycled. The other 99% end up in landfills, oceans, rivers, lakes, trees, man-made waterways - almost anywhere you look.

Plastic bags in bodies of water become food for unsuspecting marine life, causing sickness and often times, death. Plastic bits have even been found inside of fish, exhibiting how easily plastics can make their way into the food chain. Read more about the problem with plastic bags here.

What you can do.

Think before you leave your house and be prepared with reusable shopping bags or other alternative products that can carry home the goods. Keeping your plastic bag alternatives in the car is a great way to make sure you're always prepared for an unexpected shopping trip.

Do you need resuable products to help end your use of plastic grocery bags? Find them here.

Many grocery stores now offer a discount off of your bill if you supply your own bags or other alternative product...and who doesn't like to save a little extra cash?

If you find you do have to take a plastic bag, be responsible. Make sure it is properly recycled.
